Board
of Trustees
The Board shall
be comprised of not less than five and not more than nine elected by the
initial Board of Trustees in their duly scheduled meeting. The number of
trustees constituting the initial Board of Trustees is three and their names
are:
Initial three Trustees were necessary for incorporating this corporation.
Their Resumes are stated hereafter for your information. Remaining six
Trustees positions are open at this time. Contributors of Zakat funds to
this corporation are being solicited to send nominations based on the
following criteria:
Perspective Trustee shall have the following qualifications:
• A well known Muslim at the National Level
• Unites States Citizen
• Sound Knowledge of Islam – being a religious scholar is a plus
• Motivational and Creative team work skills
• Fluent in English and a college graduate - business administration is a
plus
Board of Trustees (BOT) shall be a policy making body. BOT shall make all
the decisions relating to the disbursement of Zakat Funds to various
organizations local as well as national who qualify under any one of the
eight categories as per Qura’nic injunction. Qualified local organizations
shall disburse the Zakat to the deserving individuals and families in
compliance with Shari‘ah based on the Zakat disbursement guidelines.
Zakat-ul-Mall Inc. is a tax-exempt Islamic organization dedicated in
assisting Muslims in the United States of America (USA) to establish the
Third Pillar of Islam, Az-zakat.
The organization undertakes the task of heightening awareness about the
central importance of this pillar. It makes available materials on Zakat
that are easy to understand and practice. Extensive examination is being
made of scholarly works on various aspects of the subject. The findings are
then presented in such a manner as to make it simple for the Muslims to
fully discharge their obligations under this pillar.
